You may have noticed, if you have been walking along Duke Street in Haughley, that there appears to be no ducks on the moat or indeed any sign of bird life at all and this for for some time.

There is a story going around the village that there is a man who has been seen near the moat carrying a bag, a loaf of bread and a length of rope. This man walks away when seen.

It may be purely coincidental and the man’s presence has no direct relationship to our disappearing ducks, but it is a bit suspicious to say the least.

It is a shame that there are no ducks to be seen on the moat and for the children to feed.

The police, via our Community Engagement Officer, are aware of the issue and he has asked if anyone knows this man. He also advised that if people have concerns, or if they know this man, they should call it in (101 or 999 if they are very worried), as the man could be up to something, and it’s always worth checking out.
